Ten years ago, I was exactly where you might be right now. At 22, I was lost, frustrated, and had zero self-respect. I'd look in the mirror and hate what I saw. I had no direction, no confidence, and no idea how to change any of it. The most frustrating part was I knew I was capable of more, but I couldn't figure out how to unlock it.


Everything changed when I discovered bodybuilding.


There a few things in life that will teach you about Second Order Thinking more than bodybuilding. About patience. Discipline. Sacrifice. And how to love doing things today that will benefit you tomorrow.


Little did I know that while transforming my body I was actually transforming my identity.


I was turning into the man I always dreamed of being.

The man with discipline and confidence. The man with belief and trust in his own ability. The man with resilience. The man who took on more and more responsibility and crushed it. The man who had clarity on his purpose and knew what he wanted to do (and how to get there).


It sure didn't happen overnight, and there were plenty of mistakes along the way.


But success leaves clues.


So I decided to reverse-engineer my own transformation.


What changed and how?


Why did I succeed where many others fail?


Why do some people make great progress and then self-sabotage or something happens and suddenly they're thrown off-track?


My curiosity lead me deep into psychology and how the mind works. The neuroscience behind behaviour change and habit formation. Embodied cognition. Systems thinking. Environment. Neuroplasticity and personal development. The link between dopamine and motivation. And more.


It was only when I read a book on self-image psychology that I had my "AHA" moment. It blew me away.


I still remember sitting in bed reading the first few pages in suspense. It was like the world had stopped, and every sentence I read was like the missing puzzle pieces fitting into this huge previously unsolvable puzzle.


Everything made sense.


Throughout my decade of bodybuilding I wasn't just building muscle and transforming my body.


I was transforming my Self-Image.


I then started implementing this new-found knowledge into my work with my PT clients.


The results were spooky.


Clients who had struggled for years with consistency suddenly couldn't be stopped. Men who came to me just "wanting to lose some weight" or "build some muscle" left as completely different people. They were confident in themselves. They had a spark in their eyes and I could tell it wasn't temporary.


But here's what really shocked me. The physical transformation was always the byproduct, never the goal.


When you upgrade your self-image. When you fundamentally change how you see yourself. Everything else falls into place. Your habits align. Your decisions improve. Your whole life reorganises around this new identity.


This is what I call The Imperial Code.

I find most people try to change from the outside in. A new workout plan. New diet. New morning routine etc. But I believe that's backwards.
